Text QR Code
Convert plain text into a QR code
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a 'Text' QR Code used for?
It is used for sharing information that isn't a link, such as event passwords, coordinates, serial numbers, or secret messages.
How many characters can a Text QR hold?
While it can hold up to ~4,000 characters, we recommend keeping it under 300 for reliable scanning by any smartphone camera.
Does it require an internet connection to scan?
No. Since the text is baked into the QR pattern, anyone can scan and read the message even in a remote location with no signal.
Can I format the text with Bold or Italics?
No. QR codes store raw text. Any styling (like Markdown) will just show up as regular characters when scanned.
Is it safe to store a password in a QR code?
It is convenient but not 'secure'. Anyone with a phone can scan and read the password. Use it only for semi-public things like guest WiFi.
Can I use Emojis in my Text QR?
Yes! Our generator supports UTF-8, so you can include emojis and special symbols in your messages.
Will the text be encrypted?
No. Standard QR text is plain and readable by any scanner app. If you need encryption, you must encrypt the text before pasting it here.
Can I make the QR bigger for a poster?
Yes. You can download the QR at different resolutions. Higher resolution is better for large-scale printing on banners or signs.
Does it support multiple languages (like Hindi or Arabic)?
Yes. It supports Unicode characters, allowing you to share text in any language globally.
Why is my Text QR so large?
The more text you add, the more complex the QR pattern becomes. If it's too large, try summarizing the message to keep the dots big and scannable.
