QR Scanner

Scan QR codes with your camera

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I scan a QR code on my laptop?

Grant camera permission to our 'Scan' tool. Hold the QR code up to your webcam, and it will decode the contents instantly on your screen.

Can I scan a QR code from an image file?

Yes. Instead of using the camera, you can drag and drop a saved QR code image (JPG/PNG) into our scanner to decode it.

Does it work with Barcodes too?

Our primary focus is QR codes, but the underlying engine supports many standard barcode formats like EAN and Code128.

Is my camera data sent to your server?

No. The scanning and decoding happen entirely in your browser's memory using JavaScript. Your video feed is never recorded or uploaded.

Why is it not detecting my QR code?

Make sure the camera is focused and there's enough light. The QR code should be flat and fully visible within the scanner frame.

What is the maximum distance for scanning?

It depends on your webcam quality and the size of the QR. Typically, 1-2 feet is the ideal range for a standard-sized print.

Can I scan inverted (white on black) QR codes?

Yes. Our scanner automatically handles inverted colors and high-contrast patterns.

Does it open the URL automatically?

For security, we show a preview of the decoded content first. You can then click the link to open it if it looks safe.

Is there a scan history saved?

Your scans are listed in the current session only. If you refresh the page, the list is cleared for privacy.

What if my webcam is not working?

Check your browser permissions. You might need to 'Allow' camera access in the URL bar (look for the lock or camera icon).
